Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of Permanent Judges and Additional Judge for Karnataka High Court

On 03-04-2024, the Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai, resolved to recommend the appointment of 5 Permanent Judges and 1 Additional Judge for fresh term of 1 year.

Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of Judges for Kerala High Court and Telangana High Court

On 16-04-2024, the Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B.R. Gavai recommended appointment of Judges for the High Courts of Kerala and Telangana.

Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of a Permanent Judge and extension of term for 3 Additional Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai, on 24-04-2024 recommended the appointment of 1 Permanent Judge and extension of term of 2 Additional Judges for Chhattisgarh High Court and extension of term of 1 Additional Judge for the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

SC Collegium Recommendations: January – April 2024

Supreme Court of India

The month of April saw the retirement of Justice Aniruddha Bose, which resulted in creation of a vacancy position in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had been functioning at its sanctioned strength of 34 Judges since January 2024.

Justice Aniruddha Bose Bids Farewell to the Supreme Court: A Throwback to his Stellar Tenure

On 10-04-2024, the Supreme Court bid adieu to Justice Aniruddha Bose, who retired after a 5-year tenure as Judge of the Supreme Court. Born on 11-04-1959 in Kolkata (then Calcutta), Justice Aniruddha Bose passed his Higher Secondary Examination from St. Lawrence High School, Kolkata in 1976 and did his B. Com from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and Law from Surendranath College of Law in Kolkata as well.

Additional Judges

Kerala High Court

Judicial Officer, Marakkaparambil Bhargavan Snehalatha, was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court, for a period of two years, with effect from the date she assumes the charge of her office.

Karnataka High Court

Justice Gurusiddaiah Basavaraja was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka for a fresh term of one year with effect from 16-08-2024.
