Juvenile Justice Board: In a matter against a minor registered in Yerawada Police Station, accusing him of killing two with a speeding Porsche, allegedly under the influence of alcohol was granted bail on certain conditions. The minor was charged with various sections of the Penal Code, 1860 (‘IPC’), including Section 279, 304-A, 337 and certain other provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The minor was produced before the Board, requesting to conduct his trial as a major, however, the Board denied the request and granted bail to the minor.
According to the counsel representing the 17-year-old minor, he was granted bail on certain conditions, which includes, writing an essay on ‘effect of road accidents and their solution’; working with traffic police for 15 days and study all traffic rules and regulations. He has also been directed to undergo de-addiction counselling and psychology and psychiatrist consultation.
