The Collegium comprising of Dr Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B.R. Gavai on 30-07-2024 recommended the names of two advocates, namely- Bibhu Datta Guru and Amitendra Kishore Prasad, for appointment as Judges of Chhattisgarh High Court.
The Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues recommended the names of the above Advocates for appointment as Judges of that High Court in February 2024. The Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Chhattisgarh also concurred with the recommendation.
Bibhu Datta Guru appeared in several cases as reflected in 54 reported judgments delivered by the High Court.
Amitendra Kishore Prasad @ A.K. Prasad has extensive practice which is reflected in 110 reported judgments delivered in the cases in which he has appeared.
After examining the available records indicating the merits of the Advocates and other eligibility criteria, the Collegium was convinced vis-a-vis recommending their names for elevation as Judges of Chhattisgarh High Court.
