Calcutta High Court directs CBI Probe into Rape and Murder Case of Junior Doctor of RG Kar Medical College

A petition was filed by the parents of a 31-year-old junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital, who was allegedly raped and murdered seeking an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the supervision of a judge claiming an attempt by the college administration to “cover up” the crime.

Calcutta High Court: A petition was filed in the case of alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital seeking an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A division bench of T S Sivagnanam and H. Bhattacharyya directed the CBI to take over the probe immediately and ordered the State government to hand over all case records to the CBI.

The case revolves around the tragic death of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata, which led to widespread outrage and protests by medical professionals.
