On the occasion of 76th Republic Day, Pro Bono Club, University of Lucknow is proud to host an enlightening lecture on the theme “Beyond the Courtroom: Exploring Unconventional Methods of Dispute Resolution.” This event will offer valuable insights into the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, with a specific focus on the drafting of arbitration agreements, an indispensable skill for aspiring legal professionals.
About the Club
The Pro Bono Club at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow is formed under the aegis of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice. Pursuant to the Standard Operating Procedure of our club under the Nyaya Bandhu Scheme, we are committed to promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. In furtherance of this objective, we are pleased to organize this lecture, which aims to foster awareness and understanding of ADR methods.
About the Speaker
Dr. Mohammad Umar is an accredited civil/commercial mediator by the Singapore International Mediation Institute and a Consultant and Trainer at Samvad Mediation Centre, Lucknow.
With credentials such as recognition from the International Mediation Institute (Netherlands) and a Ph.D. from the Centre for International Legal Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Umar brings a wealth of experience to the session.
Some highlights of his remarkable journey include:

Gold Medalist in LL.M. from Hidayatullah National Law University.

A semester course in Conflict Resolution at Harvard Law School, USA.

Over seven years of teaching experience, including at the University of Lucknow, where he taught ADR, Contract Law, Family Law, and more.

Active participation as a coach, speaker, and judge in institutions such as London School of Economics, Indian Law Institute, and various National Law Schools.
Dr. Umar’s expertise extends to publishing in SCOPUS-indexed journals and delivering presentations across diverse areas of law, making him a beacon of knowledge in dispute resolution practices.
