Law Minister of India unveils Fox & Mandal (Estd. 1896) Coffee Table Book and the Commemorative Special Cover at an international launch in Riyadh

‘Adaptability; a coffee table book that chronicles the 125+ years journey of Fox & Mandal an iconic law firm of India, serves as a historical and legal narrative, capturing the role it has played in shaping the legal landscape of India.

Fox & Mandal Coffee Table Book and the Commemorative Postal Stamp & First Day Cover was internationally released by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Law & Justice at a Reception hosted by Fox & Mandal in Riyadh on the sidelines of the Riyadh International Disputes Week 2025.

           

The distinguished gathering witnessed the presence of H.E. Wayne Martin – Chief Justice, DIFC Courts; H.E. Michael Black – Judge, DIFC Courts; R. Venkataramani, Ld. Attorney General for India; H.E. Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan – Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Dr. Hamed Merah – CEO, Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration; Kunal Vajani, Joint Managing Partner, Fox & Mandal and leaders of the international legal community.

Founded in 1896 as an Indo-British partnership by John Kerr Fox and Gokul Chandra Mandal, Fox & Mandal has withstood the test of time, evolving from a colonial-era legal enterprise into a modern, multi-locational full-service law firm.

Beyond legal history, the coffee table book also explores the branding evolution of Fox & Mandal, symbolizing the balance between legacy and modernization.

At its core, the coffee table book is a tribute to the resilience, adaptability and ethical commitment of Fox & Mandal to justice, making it a valuable piece not just for legal professionals but also for those interested in legal and business heritage of India. It is a story of survival, reinvention and a deep-rooted connection to legal traditions, ensuring that Fox & Mandal remains a cornerstone of the legal fraternity.

               

A Special Cover was also released by India Post to commemorate 125 years of existence of Fox & Mandal, an acknowledgement unique in the legal history of India. Fox & Mandal is possibly the only law firm to have a Special Cover and My Stamp released by the India Post.

The stamp carries sketches of the founders, and the Special Cover carries sketches of the columns of the Calcutta High Court. The sketches of some of the columns on each side of the main gate of the High Court with its figures signifying justice, reassurance and learning, form part of the backdrop of the First Day Cover. In this fusion of the past and the present lies the impetus for the future.
