  • ABOUT SYMBIOSIS LAW SCHOOL, HYDERABAD

    Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed to be University), Pune, believes in the holistic development of every student, hence making academic and extra-curricular activities an equal part of the curriculum. The Centre for Real Estate and Taxation (CRAT) and its members aspire to offer a platform for aspiring individuals to refine their skills in this field and gain a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities within these sectors.

    ABOUT THE EVENT: CENSITIO 1.0

    Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, is delighted to announce Censitio 1.0, which underscores the significance necessity for multilateral cooperation in developing fair taxation systems that can effectively address the unique challenges posed by digital economies. It will also promote valuable insights into how technology-driven tax policies can promote equitable taxation practices.

    ELIGIBILITY

    Aspiring Law Students pursuing a five-year integrated undergraduate law program or three-year graduate law program is eligible to register for the competition. However, L.L.M. students are ineligible to participate.

    SUB – THEMES FOR ARTICLE WRITING: –

    1. Tax Compliance and Transparency in the Age of Cryptocurrency and Blockchain

    2. Tax Burden on Multinational Corporations: The Role of Digital Services Taxes (DST)

    3. Addressing Tax Evasion and Base Erosion in Digital Economies

    4. OECD’s Role in Setting Global Standards for Digital Taxation.

    5. A Comparative Analysis of Global and Indian Taxation Policies.

    6. Urbanization and Smart Cities: Exploring Tax Implications on Real Estate Development.

    7. Double Taxation and Its Impact on International Trade and Investment.

    8. Digital Inclusion and Environmental Taxation: A Powerful Pair for Driving Energy Transition in Green Economies

    9. Corporate Social Responsibility and Its Relationship with Tax Avoidance.

    10. Reforming Fiscal Federalism: Strategies for Revenue Optimization.

    Authors have the discretion to choose any topic that aligns with the theme.

    CONDUCT OF THE EVENT

    The competition will be conducted in the following manner:

    • Mode: Online Submission

    • Eligibility: Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate law students across India.

    • Registration: Interested participants must register via an online portal by the specified deadline.

    • Submission Guidelines: Articles must be original, between 3000-5000 words, whereas Essays must be between 1500-3000 words. The participants are requested to adhere to the prescribed format (Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing, footnotes in Bluebook 20th Edition). mL

    • Judgment Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated based on originality, depth of analysis, clarity, coherence, and adherence to formatting guidelines.

    • Panel of Judges: The articles will be reviewed by renowned legal academicians, tax law experts, and practitioners.

    • Deadline & Results: 20th March 2025 & 29th March 2025

    AWARDS FOR WINNERS:

    • Best Article – Rs. 10,000

    • Second Best Article – Rs. 8,000

    • Third Best Article — Rs, 5,000
