Indian Journal of Intellectual Property Law (IJIPL) is now accepting submissions for its upcoming Volume X. The Indian Journal of Intellectual Property Law (IJIPL) is the flagship intellectual property law journal of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. The IJIPL is India’s first student run journal that is wholly devoted to the study of intellectual property. Published annually, it is the combined endeavour of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and the N.C. Banerjee Centre for Intellectual Property Law to address contemporary issues in the field of intellectual property law. In an endeavour to promote diverse and quality scholarship, authors are encouraged to explore contemporary theoretical and legal controversies relating to intellectual property law and policy. However, fresh and interesting perspectives on IP policy as well as interdisciplinary perspectives on the subject are also welcome. The Journal is presently soliciting submissions for its 10th Volume, to be released tentatively in April 2019. Undergraduate students, post-graduate students, practitioners, faculty and other academicians are invited to contribute to the journal in the form of essays, articles, notes and comments. Guidelines for the submissions are provided below. The last date for submission of papers is 1st October, 2018.
NATURE OF CONTRIBUTIONS:
1. Articles: An article must comprehensively analyse the issue that the author seeks to highlight. It must contain a rigorous study of the status quo or a contemporary issue. It must either indicate the lacunae therein or, attempt to suggest possible changes which can address the said lacunae or alternatively holistically and critically assess the status quo. An article should be between 5,000 to 7,000 words.
2. Essays: An essay is more adventurous as it challenges existing paradigms/norms and provides a fresh outlook to common problems. It is strongly recommended that essays be considerably more concise than articles, in terms of scope and conceptualization. An essay must thus ideally be between 3,000 to 5,000 words.
3. Notes: A note is a relatively concise form of an argument advanced by the author. The focus of a note should be on a relatively recent debate or controversy regarding the interpretation or implementation of the law. Notes should primarily highlight and address contemporary issues, which the author seeks to provide a solution for. The word limit for a note is 2,500 words.
4.Comments: A comment allows the author to critique any recent/landmark judicial pronouncement, legislation or a pending bill. The word limit for a comment is 3,500 words.
5.Book/Article reviews: A critical review may be undertaken of a book or article related to intellectual property law. The word limit for a review is 1500-3000 words.
The abovementioned word limits are exclusive of footnotes.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
a. Format: The citation format to be used is The Bluebook (20th Edn.). In keeping with the same, speaking footnotes are discouraged. The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, size 12 and 1.5 spacing. The footnotes should be in Times New Roman, size 10 and single spacing.
b. Abstract: Every submission should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 350 words describing the relevant conclusions drawn in the manuscript. Please note that there is no requirement of prior submission of abstract as the selection of the paper for publication shall be on the full manuscript. The abstract must be included within the content of the submission and will thus form a part of the content of the manuscript.
c.Biographical Information of the Author(s): A separate document with the biographical information of the author(s) must also be attached including the following details: Name, E-mail address, Postal Address, Name and Address of Institution, Course (if applicable), Academic Year.
There must be no mark of identification of the author, within the text of the submission.
GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION IN THE FIRST INSTANCE
The submissions will be subject to a plagiarism check as the first stage of evaluation. Any submission found to be not original or found plagiarized from another source, stands rejected in the first instance. Plagiarism can occur in respect to all types of sources and all media.
SUBMISSIONS
The Journal endeavours to promote originality and respects the rights of authors. The Submissions must be in accordance with the Submissions Guidelines and Editorial Policy. Please write in to us with your submission upon which we shall provide you with a copy of the indemnity and waiver forms which must be duly filled in and sent back. Each submission must be the original work of its authors. A form providing incorrect or false information will render the submission rejected from consideration. Authors are therefore requested to ensure there are no intellectual property violations in their work. Submissions are to be mailed to ijipl@nalsar.ac.in as a .doc or .docx file only. The subject line must read ‘Submission for Vol. 10‘. Queries may be directed to the same ID, with ‘Query’ in the subject line.
