The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 9th August, 2019.
The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Act, 2019.
An Act further to amend the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act,1956.
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Seventieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
1. This Act may be called the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Act, 2019.
2. In Section 2 of the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956, for the word “thirty”, the word “thirty-three” shall be substituted.
Therefore, in accordance to the said act, strength of Supreme Court Judges will be increased from 30 to 33.
