Gauhati High Court directs Department of School Education to take appropriate actions against schools violating Right to Education Act, 2009

The High Court was hearing a bunch of petitions highlighting the violation of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 by certain schools.

Gauhati High Court: The Division Bench of the Court comprising of Sandeep Mehta, CJ., and Mitali Thakuria, J., while hearing a bunch of petitions filed by students and We For Guwahati Foundation, directed the Secretary, Department of School Education, Assam, to go through the entire record and the affidavits filed by the petitioners and respondent schools. The Secretary was also directed to take appropriate measures taken in accordance with law in case any violation in strict adherence to the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 by any of the respondent schools, is noticed.

The next date of hearing has been set on 29-05-2023.
