[Uniform Civil Code] 22nd Law Commission decides to solicit views of public/ religious organizations

On 14-6-2023, the 22nd Law Commission of India decided to solicit views and ideas of the public and recognized religious organizations about the Uniform Civil Code (‘UCC’).

Key Points:

1. The Law Commission has given 30 days from the date of the Notice to present the views and feedback.

2. Earlier in 2018, the 21st Law Commission of India issued a consultation paper on “Reforms of Family Law”. As 3 years lapsed from the date of issuance of the Consultation Paper, the 22nd Law Commission considered it expedient to deliberate afresh Consultation Paper over the subject matter.
