Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi: On 18-07-2023, the Court granted interim bail to BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and co-accused, Vinod Tomar, till thursday in an alleged case of sexual harassment by female wrestlers. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal while granting Brij Bhushan relief, directed him to furnish bail bonds of Rs 25,000.
The Delhi Police had filed the chargesheet last month under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 354A (sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation) of Penal Code, 1860 (‘IPC’) against them. However, a cancellation report was filed in the POCSO case registered against Brij Bhushan by a minor wrestler.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (‘WFI’) had denied any wrong-doing. The Court also granted bail to Vinod Tomar, the suspended assistant secretary of the WFI. The hearing on regular bail of the former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan and Vinod Tomar will be held on 20-07-2023. The interim bail has been granted to them till the next date of hearing.
