About GITAM School of Law:

School of Law, a constituent institution of GITAM (Deemed To Be University) was established at Visakhapatnam Campus in the year 2012. The aim of GITAM School of Law is to impart quality legal education and maintain high standards of legal learning and research. School of Law has an academic autonomy with flexibility in curriculum that suits the requirements of Corporate, Bench & Bar. The interdisciplinary approach combined with lawyering skills is best suited for the changing global scenario and helps the students to compete in the real world by providing them with broader view of the society and help them in understanding the contemporary socio-legal norms.

About GMAC:

GITAM Moot & Advocacy Committee (GMAC) has been set up in 2019. The objective of this Committee is to provide the students an opportunity to develop their interpersonal & Advocacy skills. Participation in Moot Court Competition enhances the art of researching and the oratory skills of a student while preparing the student to face the reality of a courtroom. It also aids in confidence building. Mooting gives a practical courtroom experience to law students, making them ready to face the real world and excel in the legal profession. The Convenor of the GITAM Moot & Advocacy Committee is Prof (Dr.) R. Anita Rao, Dean & Director, School of Law. The Committee comprises faculty convenors, Mr. Vardhman S. Panwar and Ms. Rhea Hundal, and the Student Coordinators, Abhay Nandan, Gorli Sravya, Madhuri Arjilli and Tarun Teja Seeram

The Committee successfully conducted four moot court competitions since the year 2019. The first one was the GITAM Regional Moot Court Competition 2019 in which various regional universities participated and had a great learning experience. In 2020 the first National Moot Court Competition was conducted by the committee on space law which marked a great success with universities participating from different parts of the committees and many renowned universities were a part of the competition. Due to the pandemic and for the ease of accessibility to all, the committee adapted the new normal norms and conducted the 2nd National Moot Court Competition 2021 on Intellectual Property Rights in virtual mode. Which saw participation from colleges across the country and concluded successfully. In 2022, the 3rd National Moot Court Competition 2022 was conducted on Intellectual Property Rights in virtual mode. It also saw participation from colleges across the country and concluded successfully.

About the event:

GITAM Moot and Advocacy Committee (GMAC), GITAM School of Law is conducting the 4th National Virtual Moot Court Competition, 2023 from 5th to 8th of October 2023 on Intellectual Property Rights.
