The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice D.Y Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice B.R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, on 11-10-2023, reiterated their recommendation to transfer Justice M.V. Muralidharan from Manipur High Court to Calcutta High Court.
Justice M.V. Muralidharan, who is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, by a communication dated 10-10-2023, requested that he should be transferred to either his parent High Court or be permitted to continue in the High Court of Manipur.
However, the Collegium did not find any merit in the afore-stated request, hence the recommendation to transfer Justice Muralidharan to Calcutta High Court was reiterated.
