Supreme Court Collegium Recommendations for January 2024
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Aniruddha Bose, on 19-1-2024, unanimously resolved to recommend the name of Justice Prasanna B Varale to be appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai, on 04-01-2024, recommended 8 names for appointment Additional Judges and Permanent Judges for the High Courts of Bombay, Calcutta, Chhattisgarh, Gauhati, Punjab and Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
On 09-01-2024, the Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B.R. Gavai recommended the names of 4 advocates and judicial officers to be appointed as Judges of the High Courts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of Additional and Permanent Judges for 3 High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai, on 18-01-2024 resolved to recommend 8 names of Judges and Judicial Officers to be appointed as Additional and Permanent Judges in the 3 High Court of Calcutta, Jharkhand and Kerala.
In a Resolution passed by the Supreme Court Collegium on 19-1-2024, the name of Justice PS Dinesh Kumar was recommended to be appointed as the 33rd Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

Justice Prasanna Bhalchandra Varale was appointed as new Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 24-01-2024 and took oath of office on 25-01-2024.

The Ministry of Law and Justice on 31-01-2024, notified the appointment of Justice PS Dinesh Kumar as 33rd Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
