About MNLU, Nagpur
Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur was established by the Government of Maharashtra by way of enactment known as the Maharashtra National Law University Act (Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2014). The university is presently offering B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree Course, B.A.LL.B. (Hons. in Adjudication and Justicing) Five-Year Integrated Degree Course, B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Years Integrated Degree Course, LL.M. One-Year Postgraduate Degree Course, and Ph.D. in interface with the law and legal issues, besides Diploma and Certificate Courses. While it has strong student-centric goals, it also focuses extensively on the all-round development of its bright and diligent faculty members, motivating them to attain new heights.
About the Competition
The ADR Society of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur takes pride in presenting the second edition of MNLU-N NATIONAL COMMERCIAL MEDIATION COMPETITION, 2024 (Hybrid) on 17th-18th of February 2024 and 9th-10th March 2024. With its foundational core emerging from the subjects of commercial law, the theme for this edition is based on nuances of Cyber, AI, IPR and Technology law. Participants will be challenged to showcase their knowledge and creativity in resolving a variety of disputes. The event will be a valuable learning experience for all participants, providing them with an opportunity to enhance their legal and negotiation skills while developing a deeper understanding of Cyber, AI, IPR and Technology law.
The competition will feature 32 teams from law schools across the country. It shall be held in a hybrid format with its preliminary rounds happening online and advanced rounds taking place on campus (offline) with a gap of 3 weeks between the online rounds and offline rounds. The primary objective of this competition is to encourage and promote the spirit of amicable resolution of disputes by exploring innovative and commercially viable solutions that would result in a mutually beneficial outcome.
Eligibility

The Competition is open for students pursuing a five-year/three-year degree program in law from the Colleges/Universities recognized by BCI.

Only 1 (one) team per university/ college will be allowed to participate in the competition.

Any additional team from any university may participate in the competition at the discretion of the ADR Society. As part of the provisional registration, teams will be able to apply for the second slot (second), which will be confirmed by the society at a later time.

For eligibility, it is hereby clarified that all the participants in one team shall belong to one institution only. No cross-institutional composition of teams is allowed.
Team Composition
Each team shall comprise three (3) students, who shall be divided into two teams. The Mediating Team shall consist of one (1) Mediator and the Negotiating Team shall consist of one (1) Client and one (1) Counsel. It is clarified that the Mediating Team and the Negotiating Team shall be marked independent of each other throughout the competition.
It is mandatory for the Client and the Counsel of the Negotiating Team to reverse their roles once during the Preliminary Rounds. This requirement of role reversal is only for the Preliminary Rounds and not for Advanced Rounds.
Registration
There is a two-step registration process for the competition, Provisional Registration, and Final Registration.

Provisional Registration
Universities interested in reserving a slot for their team can provisionally register their university with the organizer through the link https://forms.office.com/r/1EWQaFEGgY on or before 27th January 2024.
After the Provisional Registration and review of applications submitted, the selected 32 Teams shall be communicated via email about their selection by 27th January 2024. However, the ADR Society has the discretionary power to change the number of teams in the best interest of the competition.

Team Registration of Universities
Shortlisted Teams/Participants are required to complete the Final Registration Process by duly filling out the Registration Form by or before 27th January 2024 which will be sent to the shortlisted Universities via email.
Shortlisted Teams/Participants are required to transfer the registration fees INR 5100, through the SBI Collect Link. Details regarding payment shall be notified to the selected universities via email.
The 8 teams selected for the advanced rounds will have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 1500 per person.
