Supreme Court: In a matter concerning the Supreme Court Bar Association (‘SCBA’) elections, the division bench of Surya Kant and KV Viswanathan, JJ. has clarified that the interim order dated 02-05-2024, is on an experimental basis as a pilot project. Further, the Bench said that the difficulties, if any, to be experienced by the SCBA, in giving effect to the reforms introduced through that order, will be brought on record and will be considered along with other reforms that may be suggested by the SCBA.
Dr. Adish C.Aggarwala , Senior Advocate and the President of the SCBA, after consultation with the other office bearers of the Bar, stated that the meeting of the General Body, which was convened for tomorrow i.e. 07-05-2024, stands cancelled. However, it was clarified that the Annual General Meeting of the SCBA shall be held on the date when the elections are scheduled to be held, on 16-05-2024, and the meeting shall be convened by the present Secretary of the SCBA, in accordance with Rule 21 of the SCBA Rules
