Supreme Court re-constitutes Gender Sensitisation and Internal complaints committee with Justice Hima Kohli as Chairperson

Regulation 4 of the Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), Regulations, 2013, provides for constitution of the Gender Sensitization & Internal Complaints Committee for sensitizing the public to gender issues and to address any complaints made with regard to sexual harassment at the Supreme Court precincts.

SC re-constitutes Gender Sensitisation

Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud, in exercise of powers conferred by Regulation 4(2) of the Gender Sensitisation & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations, 2013 and all other enabling provisions in this behalf, re-constituted the Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee on 31-05-2024.

Justice Hima Kohli has been nominated as the Chairperson for the Committee. She also headed the Committee in 2022 and 2023. Justice BV Nagarathna is a member of the Committee. Additional Registrar Sukhda Pritam has been nominated as the Member Secretary. Following are the other members of the Committee:

  3. Senior Advocate Jaideep Gupta

  4. Advocate Soumyajit Pani

  5. AOR Anindita Pujari

  6. Madhu Chauhan

  7. Professor Shruti Pandey

  8. Dr. Leni Chaudhuri

  9. Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy

Regulation 4 of the Regulations 2013 provides for constitution of the Gender Sensitization & Internal Complaints Committee to fulfill a very important public function of sensitizing the public to gender issues and to address any complaints made with regard to sexual harassment at the Supreme Court precincts. It also provides that the Committee shall not consist of less than seven members and not more than thirteen members.
