Bengaluru Court directs Rahul Gandhi to personally appear on June 7 without fail in BJP Defamation case

Special Court for MP/ MLA, Bengaluru: In a defamation case filed by Bharatiya Janta Party leader Keshav Prasad against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the advertisements and campaigning slogans of Congress party, the Special Court for MP/ MLA directed Gandhi to personally appear before the Court on 07-06-2024 without fail.

Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar appeared before the Court, however, Gandhi missed the appearance, due to his participation in an INDIA alliance meeting.

In the alleged defamatory ads, the Congress party had alleged BJP of charging up to 40% commission as bribes from contractors and others for exciting public works, while the party was in power.

The Court had granted bail to Karnataka CM and Deputy CM in the matter.
