SC Collegium recommends appointment of Permanent Judges for Bombay and Delhi HCs and extension of term of Additional Judges of Bombay HC

Assembling after the summer vacations, the Supreme Court Collegium passed several resolutions on 09-07-2024 to recommend appointment of Judges for Bombay and Delhi High Courts.

Assembling after a hiatus of 2 months, as the Supreme Court was on summer vacation, the Collegium comprising of Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai on 09-07-2024 passed resolutions to recommend appointment of Permanent Judges for Bombay High Court and Delhi High Court. The Collegium also passed resolution vis-a-vis extension of term for 2 Additional Judges of Bombay High Court.

Appointment of Permanent Judges

The following Additional Judges were recommended to be appointed as Permanent Judges-

  1. Justice Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar

  2. Justice Milind Manohar Sathaye

  3. Dr. Justice Neela Kedar Gokhale

  4. Justice Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade

  5. Justice Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani

  6. Justice Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase

  7. Justice Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi

Extension of Term of Additional Judges

Justice Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh and Justice Vrushali Vijay Joshi, were recommended to be appointed as Additional Judges of the High Court of Bombay for a fresh term of one year with effect from 07-10-2024.

Delhi High Court

Appointment of Permanent Judges

The following Additional Judges were recommended to be appointed as Permanent Judges-

  1. Justice Girish Kathpalia

  2. Justice Manoj Jain, and

  3. Justice Dharmesh Sharma.
