In order to commemorate the maiden National Space Day, Centre for Advanced Study in International Humanitarian Law (CASH), RGNUL is organising a pan-India celebration via a lecture on ‘Applicability of International Space Law: Indian Perspective’.

About RGNUL

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The Act incorporated a law university of national stature in Punjab, thereby fulfilling the need for a Centre of Excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization. The University acquired the approval of the Bar Council of India (BCI) in July 2006.

About CASH

The Centre for Advanced Studies in International Humanitarian Law (CASH) is one of the flagship centres of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. The Centre aims to further its objective of bridging the gap between the theory and practice of humanitarian law. It is established to facilitate research and discourse in the various facets of international humanitarian law by analyzing current policy approaches in tackling contemporary global issues. It further streamlines the process of learning through academic courses, programs, and publications. The Centre follows a multi-disciplinary approach to identifying problems in international humanitarian law and endeavors to engage in dialogue to facilitate change. Therefore, it helps ensure that future leaders and policy-makers understand the practical relevance of the subject of IHL and have a thorough knowledge of its basic principles and frameworks

About the Resource Person

Prof. (Dr.) Sandeepa Bhat is working as a Professor of Law at NUJS, Kolkata. He has done his specialization in International Law and Business and Trade Law (LL.M.) with First Rank and double gold medal at University of Mysore. His Ph.D. is in the field of Space Law. He has the distinction of being a member of American Society of International Law (ASIL), Baltimore, United States of America, International Academy of Space Law (IASL), Moscow, Russia, and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), Paris, France. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Air and Space Law and Lex ad Coelum, a blog for discourse on aviation and space laws, and he is also associated with various other publications in different capacities. He has published 4 books on Space Law, 3 books on Medical Law, more than 50 articles in journals of international and national repute, and presented over 125 research papers in international and national conferences.
