About the Conference:

The United Nations (UN), established in 1945, is the largest international organization with 193 member states. Its primary mission is to foster international cooperation, maintain peace, and promote social welfare worldwide. Over the past 80 years, the UN has made significant contributions to global decolonization, conflict resolution, and the prevention of world wars. The UN has also established global human rights standards, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and created essential treaties and agencies like UNICEF and the World Food Programme to uphold these standards.

In addition to its peacekeeping missions, the UN provides critical support during crises, including natural disasters, wars, and disease outbreaks. Further, UN has led to the establishment of the UNCITRAL for resolving disputes and codification of the UNCLOS widely governing trade, development, and law of the sea. The organization has also set forth the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve global prosperity by 2030. Despite its accomplishments, the UN faces ongoing challenges that require interdisciplinary research and evaluation to improve its effectiveness in promoting peace, resolving international disputes, and addressing complex issues of international law and enforcement.
