Rouse Avenue Court: In the ‘Land-for-Job’ money laundering scam wherein nine accused persons, including Rashtriya Janta Dal (‘RJD’) leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav were arrested, a Single Judge Bench of Vishal Gogne, J. granted bail to all accused persons after noting that they were not arrested during the investigation.
The accused persons appeared before the Court pursuant to summons issued to them by the Court upon taking cognizance of a supplementary chargesheet.
The Court granted bail to all nine accused persons upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh each.
The matter pertains to ‘Group D’ appointments made in West Central Railway Zone in Jabalpur during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. It was alleged that appointments were done in return for land parcels which were gifted/transferred in the name of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family or associates, by the recruits.
The case was filed by the Enforcement Directorate (‘ED’) based on a First Information Report (‘FIR’) filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (‘CBI’).
