The Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate and Insolvency Laws (CARCIL) is a Centre of Excellence to facilitate the highest standards of research in Corporate Law, Governance, Insolvency, and allied laws in India.
The Centre aims to provide a platform to carry out research projects, organise academic workshops, lectures, and conferences, conduct Faculty Development Programs etc., and work towards the advancement of Corporate and Insolvency laws in India.
About the Competition
CARCIL is proud to present the fourth edition of Justice U.P. Singh Memorial CNLU National Moot Court Competition on Antitrust Laws, 2025. The objective of this moot is to stir up research on issues in competition law. Business sector in India is one of the highest contributors to the national economy.
Hence, the understanding of the jurisprudence and legal implications of business becomes essential. Young lawyers excelling in competition law will lead to the opening up of better business prospects and benefiting those in the industry.
Theme of the Moot
The theme of the moot is: “Competition Concerns in Online Real Money Games”. The focus will be on exploring the CCI’s prima facie observations on competition issues in online real money gaming platforms. Participants will delve into the concept of “special responsibility” under Indian competition law and contrast it with the U.S. framework, where no such obligation exists.
General Details
The Preliminary and Quarter-Final rounds will be conducted virtually and the Semi-Final and Final rounds will be held physically at the CNLU Campus.
Registration Details
In this edition of the competition, the registration will be restricted to 64 teams (out of which 32 registrations will be institutional registrations and the other 32 will be open registrations) on a first come-first serve basis. Interested teams can provisionally register (no payment required) by filling out the form mentioned at the end of the post.
Important Dates
22nd and 23rd March, 2025 — Preliminary Rounds and Quarter Final Rounds
5th April, 2025 — Semi-Final and Final Rounds
Registration Fee
Teams shall make a payment of INR 2000/- (Two Thousand Rupees Only) before the last date of registration to register for the competition.
After the memo elimination round, 32 teams will proceed to the oral rounds. The teams advancing to the oral rounds shall make an additional payment of INR 3000/- (Three Thousand Rupees Only) to confirm their participation for the oral rounds.
