About the Colloquium:

As Intellectual property (IP) law intersects increasingly with the Constitutional Principles, particularly in the realms of freedom of expression, right to privacy, and public interest, there emerges a need to balance protection of innovation with the Constitutional Rights. This event, titled “Redefining IP and Privacy in an Accelerating Digital Landscape”, will bring together experts in Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property, Technology and Criminal Law to discuss, how emerging technologies have reshaped traditional notions of IP rights, privacy protections, and crime. As digital innovation grows, so does the complexity of safeguarding individual and societal rights, which demands a nuanced understanding of both legal frameworks and the ethical imperatives underpinning them.

This colloquium aims to:

  • Examine how technological advancements are challenging traditional IP rights frameworks and introducing new forms of IP protection.

  • Explore the intersection of privacy rights and technological surveillance, discussing implications for personal freedoms and Constitutional protections.

  • Analyse how the evolution of technology has introduced new types of cybercrimes and the legal responses required to tackle these issues.

  • Highlight constitutional perspectives on privacy, freedom of expression, and property rights in the digital era.

Speakers: The colloquium includes speakers from the judiciary, legal advocacy, and academia.
